Astrology for the week of DEC 16-22 2024

MON DEC 16

After a Full Moon in 23 degrees Gemini and Sagittarius that occurred on Sunday at 1:02 AM PST, where the Sun and Moon were both squaring Neptune, shrouding things in mystery, intrigue, release, and an air of ritual sacrifice, we enter this week fortified by various trials, experiments, and illuminating experiences, with a desire to embark wholeheartedly into a new chapter. The decan of Gemini and Sagittarius that the Full Moon fell within is ruled by Saturn, and by the 10 of swords, and 10 of wands in the tarot, respectively. This signifies a hard earned completion, and decisions made out of necessity, maturity. A definitive choice sprang from the bifurcation of two distinct paths. A “good twin” and an “evil twin” within the self or outside of the self. One of them must be sacrificed and hurled into a volcano. Mercury, ruler of Gemini, also stationed direct on Sunday afternoon. Much has been learned, and more knowledge continues to be gathered. New portals have been opened. The Moon is in Cancer trine Saturn as the week begins, signifying the impetus to anchor more firmly into a secure and stable framework to reestablish homeostasis. As changes are being implemented, allow yourself time to adjust.

TUES DEC 17

There can be a desire to push forward, or to take on too much too quickly, but try to lean into relaxing your expectations of yourself or others for the time being to allow for a grace period to make adjustments and revisions. Mercury is still in it’s shadow phase, and will take some time to catch up to speed, and Mars is taking a long restorative retreat. Go easy on yourself and try to avoid becoming frustrated. Focus on renewing your sense of joy, vitality, and inspiration. The Moon enters Leo at 3:39 PM PST, to oppose Pluto, and as the day advances into evening a lunar conjunction to Mars strengthens confidence, drive and motivation. There may be some spirited conversations or opportunities for learning, teaching, sharing, or mental exploration this evening as the Moon forms a trine to Mercury. People (yourself included), can be passionate about a topic, or a sense of revitalizing something can take prominence. There is still a learning curve being traversed. 

WED DEC 18

The Moon in Leo is eager to embrace new potentials, and feels propelled towards personal growth and expansion as it sextile’s Jupiter today. Minor tensions to Saturn, Neptune, and Venus suggest a bit of awkwardness around finding your footing in new terrain, but there is an opportunity here to reinvent the self or come at things from a new, perhaps even therapeutic and healing angle. Mercury, now direct, is eager to explore, with it’s trine to Mars blustering to put new ideas into praxis and forge a new path. Optimism grows and things start feeling a bit warmer and brighter. There are healing potentials found within doing things a little bit differently.

THURS DEC 19

The Moon makes a supportive trine to the Sun today, while squaring Uranus. This can see some excitement and perhaps a little positive tension. There can be some surprises. Finding new and more harmonious ways to enjoy yourself can be key. Things can be shaken up in a positive way. Someone can inspire you out of the blue, or you can find support in unexpected ways. Try to avoid anything too demanding, but don’t shy away entirely from challenges either. Venus perfects a trine to Jupiter at 14 degrees just now, seeing fresh light, new inspiration, innovative approaches, and positive changes that can be a breath of fresh air. Being open minded can bring good fortune and positive social connections that can be very affirming. The Moon enters detail oriented Virgo at 11:37 PM PST, to fact check anything that seems too good to be true.

FRI DEC 20

The Moon in Virgo can be slightly suspicious of too much optimism, or perhaps it’s just a case of needing to look after details so that the small picture doesn’t become a casualty to the bigger picture. Identifying problems that will require solutions and preparation can be a factor. There can be some pragmatic details to address today, or little details or working parts that need to be improved upon, fixed, or replaced. Try to strike a balance between expansive plans and maintaining the everyday basics. Being adequately prepared and thinking ahead can save you a lot of trouble down the line. 

SAT DEC 21

The Sun officially enters Capricorn at 4:21 AM PST, kicking off winter solstice on an expansive but practical note. There can be a feeling of having a lot on your plate, or new challenges have been identified that will need to be risen to. The Sun is still square Neptune, which can feel a bit weary in the face of stark realities, or confidence can be tested by a person or situation. Try to avoid worry, and if you can find temporary solutions that can buy you time to forge more long term and satisfactory resolution to any challenges or issues that need to be nipped in the bud, this is certainly better than nothing. 

SUN DEC 22

The Moon enters Libra at 11:08 AM PST, where it is trine Pluto, opposite Neptune, square the Sun, and semisquare Venus. This can see quite a bit of pressure for a Sunday. There can be some inevitabilities that need to be faced just when you’d prefer to slink off and not feel put upon by people or circumstances. Try to find a happy medium and innovate a workable compromise that doesn’t upset the balance too much.
